March Chick Days at Rural King | How to Raise Chickens | Pay Dirt
Season 2, Episode 4

9m 12s
S2.E2. Ever wanted to raise your own chickens? Here is a quick walkthrough on how to set yourself up for success when buying and raising chicks. Early spring is the best time to start, and Realtree Farm Manager Roger Culpepper walks us through establishing a chicken coop and buying the necessary products during Rural King's Chick Days.
Baby chicks require a lot of time for care. Prior to buying your chicks, clear your schedule for a few weeks or make sure that someone (if not yourself) will be around to care for them. They will need to be checked at least five times a day. So, no vacations or long trips to the store should be planned. Do your shopping in bulk ahead of time.
Make sure you know where you're going to keep them. Baby chicks are small, but they grow quickly. Whether you're keeping chicks in the garage, basement, or workshop, be prepared for when they grow to their adult size and start making a mess. Visit your local Rural King Supply to check out their selection of chicken coops.
