S3.E9. Atlanta Braves' third baseman, Austin Riley, gets a rare day off from MLB spring training. He opts to spend it with Team Realtree in Osceola country. Riley and Tyler Jordan hunt in Florida's South Zone in hopes of crossing paths with a long-legged swamp bird. After a slow morning, they finally locate one that's fired up and willing to work.
Episode Breakdown:
1:50: Riley gives an update on how his pre-season game went the evening before. He doubled and walked.
2:35: Riley, Jordan and cameraman Bryan Brown see a hen. They quickly set up and start calling. It doesn't take long for the bird to walk up, but no gobbler is behind her.
4:35: Jordan has a close encounter with a Florida snake. It slithers right passed him. He holds his ground, though. Well done, sir.
6:55: They finally strike a longbeard and quickly reposition to get on the bird. It doesn't take long before it flies the creek and struts right into range. It proceeds to whip the H.S. quarter-strut decoy, but Riley clicks off the safety and takes care of the rest. Translation: a load of TSS to a gobbler noggin'. That's better than a grand slam at Truist Park, right? Fried Florida turkey nuggets for everyone, y'all.
