Heartbreak On a 180-Inch Deer | Strategies for an Iowa Giant | Midwest Whitetail

On this week's episode of Midwest Whitetail, we take a dive back into the 2023 bow season. We hear about how Rye Ludwig got had an opportunity at tagging a once-in-a-lifetime buck.
We also look back and study the history of the farm. Kaleb Greiner has had permission on the piece for many years. Since he set his sights elsewhere for the 2023 season, he offered Rye the opportunity to hunt it.
Rye only hunted the farm once in 2022. Going into hunting season, he had minimal firsthand intel of how deer used the property.
Initially targeting a mature tight-framed buck nicknamed "Tight 10," the plan was to construct two small MonsterBuck green plots in an area of a cornfield where deer damage was severe. The plot would hopefully create a draw, thus putting them in bow range. Along with that came the identification of a great stand location overlooking the green plot. As the season goes on, a giant shows up on the farm, and a chess match for both bucks takes off from there.
We hope you enjoy the episode. As always, thank you for the support, week in and week out.
