S4.E9. On this week's episode, we start by joining Mike Reed as he walks his and Jared's river bottom farm. While out, Mike walks by the tree he tagged "Gronk" out of. It was the oldest deer on the farm back in 2017. Mike attributes the hunt's success to using the hang-and-hunt tactic, something many Midwest Whitetail team members utilize. He covers how he uses this strategy and why it works so well. Next, we join Bill Winke, who explains why he thinks older bucks become easier to kill. Then, he shares a similar experience to Mike's, which is a great hunt from 2010 for an old buck he called "Jamie."
1:30 Mike Reed recaps the hunt for Gronk. Everything had to go right to get that deer, including quietly hanging a set of stands the morning of the hunt.
5:00 Gronk steps out and Reed lets the arrow fly. The deer goes a short distance before tipping over.
7:35 Winke talks about the hunt for Gronk and how beneficial hang-and-hunts are. Then, he discusses why he believes bucks get easier to hunt again after they reach 6 1/2 years of age. He uses a hunt for a buck nicknamed "Jamie" to help illustrate that concept.
11:00 Jamie steps out, and Winke gets his opportunity to tag the buck. He connects in grand fashion.
