S1.E5. Mike Stroff is in Illinois for the deer season opener. It's a great time to be in a treestand, and he even sees a target buck. Let's find out if he closes the distance.
0:05 Stroff arrives in deer camp, and shoots his bow a little.
1:00 Then, he does a little last-minute scouting. He pulls several cards from his SpyPoint trail cameras.
1:45 Next, we take a look at some of the farming operations. The Grigsby crop crew momentarily switches over from cutting corn to combining soybeans. Why? It's all about weather.
4:00 Stroff talks about how standing corn is killer for hunting (in a bad way). Deer oftentimes hang out in it, and don't leave it, during daylight.
5:00 Then, he makes a plan to move in on a big target buck that's frequenting a clover plot.
6:00 During the walk in, he spots a big buck feeding just off the edge of their entry route to the treestand. Obviously, this unexpected event catches them off guard. They call an audible and make a play on the deer.
8:00 Finally in the tree, he hopes to have a second encounter with the giant buck. Its bachelor group buddy hits the food plot. But does the big one?
